Revelstoke in the fall is one of Canada’s hidden gems. The crisp mountain air, the changing leaves, and the stunning views make it ideal for a fall camping trip. I can’t believe it took me three years to visit the Revelstoke area properly.
We drove past the town so many times on our drive to Vancouver but never actually stayed before this October.
With fewer crowds than during the summer, you can enjoy the area’s peaceful beauty almost to yourself. The vibrant fall colors and the surrounding mountains create a perfect backdrop for an amazing outdoor adventure.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through our 3-day fall camping itinerary near Revelstoke (so you can plan your fall camping trip). This itinerary will help you make the most of your fall trip to Revelstoke, from relaxing in hot pools to hiking scenic trails and exploring nearby attractions.

Why Fall is the Perfect Time for a Campervan Trip in Revelstoke
Revelstoke in the fall is breathtaking. The changing leaves, cooler temperatures, and fewer crowds make it an ideal time for a campervan trip.
Unlike Banff area, which is dominated by coniferous trees and a few golden larches, Revelstoke’s landscape is rich with leafy trees. These trees provide a wider range of fall colors—brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows.
It made me miss the foliage from the East Coast.
And one of the best parts about fall camping in Revelstoke is that it’s less crowded than in the summer. There’s no need to book months in advance; some campgrounds stay open year-round. This gives you more flexibility in planning your trip and finding the perfect spot to camp.
Plus, the cooler weather is also perfect for outdoor adventures like hiking and exploring, but it can get chilly, especially in the mornings and evenings. That’s why campervan travel is ideal for fall camping near Revelstoke.
With a campervan, you can easily access a warm, cozy shelter at the end of each day. You can also enjoy the flexibility of moving from one scenic spot to another, setting up camp wherever you like.

Where to Camp in the Fall in Revelstoke: Crazy Creek Hot Pool Resort
Crazy Creek Hot Pool Resort is the perfect spot for a relaxing fall camping experience near Revelstoke. The resort is well-known for its hot pools, which are the main highlight (and this kids’ favorite part). But it also offers other great family-friendly amenities like a playground and a pump track.
After a day of exploring, soaking in the warm, mineral-rich pools was perfect for staying cozy in the cooler fall weather. However, we preferred to start our morning in the pool. It was a bit less crowded and a great way to kick off those cold days.
The pools and the campground are open year-round, so you can enjoy them even as the temperatures drop.
In addition to the hot pools, a few great trails on the property are great for little family hikes. You can walk around the remains of the old Taft settlements, a Mill town and rail town established in the late 1800s.
Now, you can see the old remains of the general store, sawmill, hotel, and train station. The Sawmill ruins are the best, though!
There is also direct access to the beautiful views of Crazy Creek’s waterfalls and suspension bridge, but it closes early in the season (around mid-September), so sadly, I didn’t get to see it.
3-Day Fall Camping Itinerary Near Revelstoke
Here’s how to spend three unforgettable days camping near Revelstoke this fall. This 3-day itinerary is designed to help you make the most of fall camping in Revelstoke. You’ll be based at Crazy Creek Hot Pool Resort.
Day 1: Arrive and Settle in at Crazy Creek Hot Pool Resort
Revelstoke is a good 5-hour drive from Calgary or a 6-hour drive from Vancouver without making any stops. We left mid-afternoon, so we arrived to the Crazy Creek Hot Pool Resort after dinner (we had a fun little dinner at one of the rest areas on the way – one of the perks of having a fully equipped RV).
But the drive is beautiful.
After a scenic drive through the changing autumn landscape, you’ll pull into Crazy Creek Hot Pool Resort, where you can set up your campervan for the next few days.
Once settled, unwind with a relaxing dip in the resort’s hot pools. There’s no better way to end a long driving day than soaking in a hot pool. I love the mix of the warm water and the crisp air.
After your dip, enjoy a peaceful evening around your campsite, maybe even light up a campfire.
Day 2: Explore Sicamous
After breakfast, start your second day with a relaxing dip in the hot pools. There’s nothing like a warm soak in the morning to be ready for a day of exploring. Once you’re refreshed, take some time to explore the Crazy Creek Resort area.
You can take a leisurely walk to see the nearby ruins or let the kids have fun at the playground. The campsite also has a pump track, where you can enjoy outdoor games or the beautiful fall surroundings.
I highly recommend following the trails to the remains of the Sawmill ruins. It was so cool.
In the afternoon, after lunch, take a short drive to Sicamous. It’s a small town less than 30 minutes away. Your first stop should be D Dutchmen Dairy, a local favorite where you can treat yourself to some delicious ice cream or fresh dairy products.
The ice cream was honestly …. DELICIOUS! It was one of the best ones we had, and we tried many. MacKay in Cochrane, Alberta, is a close second.
After your snack, head out for a little family-friendly hike to the Sicamous Creek Falls Trail. It’s a really short trail with a nice view over the waterfalls. However, other hiking trails depart from the same trailhead if you want to continue walking.
If your kids are up for more fun, let them try the new Sicamous Pump Track. It’s such a cool pump track. My boys didn’t want to leave for dinner.
After a fun-filled day, return to Crazy Creek Resort for a peaceful evening at the campground. Relax around the campfire, enjoy the quiet, and soak in the beauty of fall as the day ends.
We had a great homemade dinner and played some board games in the RV.
Day 3: Enjoy Revelstoke
Start your final day with one more relaxing dip in the hot pools at Crazy Creek.
By mid-morning, make your way toward Revelstoke. You can stop at The Enchanted Forest or Three Valley Gap Ghost Town.
The kids had been asking us to go to The Enchanted Forest all weekend, so that’s what we did.
It’s filled with over 350 handcrafted fairy tale figurines and structures from fairytales, like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Snow White, and The Three Little Pigs. There is also a 50-foot-tall treehouse—the tallest in British Columbia.
There is also a self-guided Wildland Interpretive Nature Walk. It’s a 2-kilometer path through the forest and then the wetlands. It was our first time walking on the trail, and it was pretty nice.
But if you prefer something more historical, Three Valley Gap Ghost Town offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, with old buildings and artifacts to explore. We visited in the summer and it was really cool. And a lot bigger than what it looks like from the outside.
In the afternoon, stroll through downtown Revelstoke’s charming streets. At La Baguette, a local favorite, you can treat yourself to coffee and a viennoiserie.
Afterward, visit the Revelstoke Museum, where you can learn more about this mountain town’s local history and culture. And it’s free for children.
As the day winds down, return to your campsite at Crazy Creek Resort for one last relaxing evening. Enjoy a final campfire under the stars, reflecting on the peaceful beauty of fall camping in Revelstoke. It’s the perfect end to a memorable trip.
Bonus Day 4: Driving from Revelstoke to Calgary
If you’re driving back to Calgary, you should make a few stops.
You can start your day with a quick hike at Giant Cedars Boardwalk in Mount Revelstoke National Park. This short, easy trail takes you through an ancient forest of centuries-old giant cedar trees.
Although a section of the loop is currently closed, the trail has been modified to an out-and-back path.
Afterward, stop by Hemlock Grove Boardwalk in Glacier National Park. This accessible trail winds through a lush forest filled with hemlocks and ferns.
As you continue your drive, stop at Wapta Falls in Yoho National Park. It’s known as one of the largest waterfalls in the park. A visit to the nearby Town of Field is also a great option for a meal and a chance to enjoy the small-town charm nestled within Yoho.
Next, head to Emerald Lake, famous for its stunning turquoise waters. This peaceful spot is perfect for a short walk or picnic by the water’s edge. Don’t miss the Natural Bridge, a fascinating rock formation carved by the powerful Kicking Horse River, offering excellent photo opportunities.
Lastly, make sure to visit Takakkaw Falls, one of Canada’s highest waterfalls, standing at 373 meters tall. This stop is a must-see when exploring Yoho National Park, but note that the road closes in mid-October.
After exploring these beautiful spots, continue your scenic drive back to Calgary to return the Roadsurfer RV and end your fall camping adventure.
