There are limited options for staying in Zion National Park and they tend to book out really quickly in the summertime. If you’re hoping to stay within the park, make sure to reserve your spot, including campsite, well in advance in the year.

Zion Lodge

The Zion Lodge is the only in-park lodging inside Zion National Park. The hotel has 76 unique rooms, 6 suites, and 40 historic cabins to choose from.

Whether you’re traveling with your partner or kids, you can find rooms with a capacity of up to 5 people. They are well-equipped with comfortable beds, a full bath, coffee amenities, a porch or balcony, and the cabins include cozy gas-powered fireplaces.

The lodges have preserved their original classic design from the 90s, which makes it a very attractive place to stay.

The hotel is very unique and has everything you need, just don’t expect an excellent Internet connection.

Watchman Campground

The Watchman campground is located next to the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, only 0.25 mile away from the South Entrance. The campground has 175 sites for RVs and tents including some sites with electrical hook ups.. Some campsites have shaded areas.

The Watchman campground is open year round and works on a reservation system, up to 6 months in advance.

South Campground

The South Campground is another option for camping within Zion National Park. It’s located near the Zion Canyon Visitor Center, only half a mile from the South Entrance.

This campground offers only tent and dry RV campsites. There are no electrical hookup, so you might want to consider having a portable power station with you.

The South Campground is closed each year for the wintertime and works on a reservation system for the summertime. It’s important to note that reservations can only be made 14 days in advance.

Best Places to Stay Near Zion National Park

There are a few different towns that are a great home-base when visiting Zion National Park: Springdale, Virgin, Hurricane or even St. George. But Springdale is probably your best option if you want to stay as close as possible from the park.

Why is Springdale the best place to stay for a Zion National Park Trip?

Springdale is the perfect base for exploring Zion National Park, no matter if this is your first time visiting this beautiful national park or if you’ve been there a few times.

This small Utah town is home to 1,000 residents. Not only is Springdale, UT an excellent location to access the park, but it has a good range of activities to make your time in Zion amazing. In Springdale, you’ll find eateries, hiking trails, art galleries and more.

Springdale is the perfect getaway for a family adventure! Springdale is only 1 mile away from the south entrance of Zion National Park. It’s a short walk to the Zion park sign and visitor center. Plus, there is a park shuttle that runs regularly across the town with multiples stops at different hotels in Springdale.

Zion Canyon Campground

The Zion Canyon Campground is the only campground in Springdale, and it’s a great place to park your RV.

By staying here, you can enjoy any of their facilities – showers, picnic tables, swimming pool and fire rings. Also, all the RV spots include power (30amp, most 50amp), water, sewer, cable TV, and some of them have charcoal grills.

The Zion Canyon Campground is just the perfect place to explore the charming town of Springdale and access the Zion National Park.

Hampton Inn & Suites Springdale/Zion National Park

A five minute drive from the Zion National Park, Hampton Inn & Suites Springdale is one of the best hotels in Springdale, UT for any families that look for comfort.

The hotel offers spacious rooms with comfortable king-sized beds, flat-screen TV, free WiFi access, ensuite bathroom, a microwave and a small fridge. Stays include a daily hot breakfast buffet too.

We love the fact that the town shuttle stops right outside the hotel and will take you to Springdale’s attractions, shops and galleries. But the hotel also has great facilities like an outdoor swimming pool and parking spaces.

Cliffrose Springdale by Hilton

If you’re looking for a peaceful stay, Cliffrose Springdale is located on edge of the Virgin River, 5 minutes from Zion Canyon.

This boutique hotel has modern and stylish rooms which all include cozy beds, ensuite bathrooms flat-screen TV, air conditioning, a small refrigerator, coffeemaker and much more.

Some of these rooms have balconies with breathtaking views of the mountains. 

Cliffrose Springdale is one of the great hotels in Springdale, UT for families. Children will be able to enjoy the on-site playground or the kids’ pool. The hotel also offers other incredible facilities like an outdoor fireplace, BBQ, free private parking, laundry room, spa facilities, and a hot tub.

Zion Park Motel

If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly hotel in Springdale, UT, you may want to consider the Zion Park Motel. It’s one of the best cheap hotels in Springdale, Utah. The Zion Park Motel is located only a mile from the Zion National Park Entrance.

The motel has newly renovated family suite units that can accommodate up to 6 person. The family suites are perfect for families since they have 2 separate bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen.

The motel has outdoor picnic tables as well as a kids’ playground.

Zion River Resort – RV Park & Campground

Located next to the tranquil Virgin River, beautiful scenic surroundings and a few minutes from the Zion National Park, Zion River Resort is an excellent option.

They offer great camping spots for your RV. Each campsite has full hook-ups, a shade tree, a fire ring, a large picnic table, free Wi-Fi and cable television.

If you don’t own an RV, the Zion River Resort also has cozy cabins that are perfect for all types of travelers.

Bryce Zion Campground

The Bryce Zion Campground is the perfect place for you’re planning on visiting both Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. It makes it a great home-base for exploring both national park, since the campground are half way between Bryce Canyon and Zion.

The campground is run by a friendly family that makes you feel like at home and will give you useful information about the area.

It’s well-equipped with a laundry room, bathrooms with hot showers, WiFi and a camp store. It even has the Cooter’s Cafe, a great bistro with delicious food in case you don’t fancy cooking.

Under Canvas Zion

If you’re after a glamping experience, Under Canvas Zion is like no other glamping site. These luxury tents are situated only 20 miles from the entrance to Zion National Park and Springdale.

The tents have all the amenities you need – from comfortable and spacious beds, private bathrooms with shower, sink and toilet to the wood-burning stove and more.

The Angel Landing Suite is perfect for families. It sleeps up to 6 people and includes a king-size bed as well as a queen-size sofa bed and 2 twin beds.

We also love the fact that they have complementary activities for kids and adults. It also has on-site dining and an experienced coordinator to help you plan your hiking adventure.

Zion Wildflower Resort

Another excellent glamping option is the Zion Wildflower Resort which offers beautiful canvas tents as well as private bungalows and cool wagons. 

All the tents are well-equipped with cozy beds, tables, chairs, shower amenities, and private decks which are perfect for stargazing or relaxing with your family. Although they don’t include a private bathroom, you can use the bathhouses which are a short walk from the tents.

We love all the facilities you can find in the resort: kids playground, laundry stations, BBQs, firepits to roast smores with your children and water re-fill fountains.

Final Thoughts: Where to Stay in Zion National Park

A visit to Utah with kids can’t be complete without a stop at Zion National Park. While there are limited lodging options inside the park, there are many options in the nearby town of Springdale. It’s so close to the entrance of the park, it has the park’s shuttle and many fun activities for the kids.
