Where We’ll Stay: The Cabin

We’ll stay in one of Folk Tree Lodge‘s beautiful cabins. It’s located just off Highway 22, a little past Bragg Creek.

It’s a beautiful wood log cabin with a large open space for our evening and morning yoga sessions.

We also selected the lodge carefully. We have the only one with a central fireplace. Lots of trees surround the lodge for privacy. On the property, we find walking trails and an outdoor fire pit.

PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE

Let the fun begin. We’ve curated a fantastic weekend retreat for you. It will be filled with laughter, yoga, meditation, outdoor adventures, and evenings by the fire.

DAY 1

You’re invited to arrive between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. You’ll be greeted with appetizers and bubbles. We’ll kick off this women’s adventure+zen retreat when everyone has arrived with an opening circle. We’ll then have a nourishing meal with time to mingle.

We’ll enjoy the rest of the evening at the cabin: indoor and outdoor fireplace, oracle cards, books and lovely discussions.

DAY 2

We’ll start the day with a healthy breakfast with a grounding warm Cacao ceremony (think nourishing medicinal hot chocolate), followed by a gentle morning outdoor movement session (weather permitting – the cabin has a spacious and bright indoor yoga studio).

It’s an opportunity to relax and let the outside world go. You’ll feel calm and relaxed for the rest of the retreat.

Then, you’ll participate in an intentional bracelet creation workshop.

We’ll enjoy a warm lunch. In the afternoon, it’s time for some outdoor fun. We’ll be cross-country skiing on one of the many trails in Banff Creek (ski rental included).

We’ll return to the cabin in the late afternoon, where you’ll participate in an intentional bracelet creation workshop, maybe followed by a yoga session.

Dinner will be served, and we’ll enjoy the rest of the evening at the cabin: indoor and outdoor fireplace, oracle cards, books and lovely discussions.

DAY 3

We’ll wake up with a healthy breakfast. We’ll bundle up and go for an early morning winter hike. We’ll return to the cabin and prepare for a late check-out. We’ll enjoy one last meal of connexion before ending our magical winter retreat.

ABOUT THE HOSTS

This winter retreat is hosted by Emilie from Love Life Abroad and her friend (and yogi) Ginette. They each have their own strengths, which make them the perfect combination for this zen/adventure retreat.

Meet Emilie

Meet Emilie the founder of Love Life Abroad

Emilie is the founder of the outdoor family travel blog Love Life Abroad. She studied engineering and practiced Mechanical engineering for many years until she decided to take a leap of faith and build her own business in tourism. Since then, she worked with many tourism boards in Canada and USA, including Tourism Jasper, Travel Drumheller, Visit Southern Idaho, and many more. She has always been drawn to the outdoors, but when her family moved to the majestic Canadian Rockies, she dived more into hiking and camping.

She loves helping families get out of their comfort zones and find peace in nature. But she also recognized that motherhood can be hard and lonely. It’s why she decided to create outdoor women’s retreats.

Ginette (Gigi) has practiced yoga since 2004 and has been offering her teachings since 2018. She has traveled to Bali to learn the foundations of yoga.

To date, she has studied 500 hours in Yoga Teacher Training, an additional 50 hours in Tibetan Bon Buddhism Meditation, 50 hours in Children’s Yoga Training, courses in Yin Yoga and Holy Fire Usui Reiki. Gigi continuously learns and is keenly interested in Shamanism, Art Therapy, Pranayama (breath work), and the chakras.

Gigi loves hosting creative and mindful events like cacao ceremonies, full moon ceremonies, mala-making, and intuitive dance. She loves spending time connecting to nature, where she can truly ground herself.
