5 Things We Loved About Our Stay at Basecamp Resort Canmore: Our Reviews
We had the opportunity to be hosted by Basecamp to try the Basecamp Resort Canmore, but all opinions are mine.
1. The Location
Basecamp Resort is conveniently situated in Canmore. It’s located on the Bow Valley Trail, only a few minutes away from the city center. It’s located within walking distance of downtown Canmore. There is a walking trail behind the resort following the trail rail and a pedestrian train rail crossing. It leads to the small shopping area where you can grocery stores and other stores. If you want a little further, you’ll arrive on the Main Street and the Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk trail (one of the best family-friendly hikes in the Canadian Rockies)
Plus, the resort is just a short drive from Banff National Park. Within 20 minutes, you’ll be in downtown Banff ready to enjoy some hiking, wildlife viewing, and spectacular mountain scenery. Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, a world-class facility for cross-country skiing and mountain biking, is also nearby.
2. One of the Few Canmore Accommodations With a Kitchen
During my stay at the Basecamp Resort Canmore, I had the one-bedroom suite (I was traveling with a friend, not with the kids this time). But the hotel also has a two-bedroom suite for families.
The rooms are spacious, and the suite features:
- a separate bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed and ample storage space for our belongings
- a fully equipped kitchen and a kitchen island with stools
- a comfortable living room with sofas, coffee table, and a TV.
There are no balconies or patios, but beautiful views of the mountains.
I love that there is a full kitchen. This made it easy to prepare meals and snacks throughout our stay. It’s even more important when traveling with kids. It’s one of the few Canmore accommodations with a kitchen.
The suite (and the entire hotel) was impeccably clean and well-maintained. It made us feel right at home.
3. One of the Best Hotels in Canmore with Hot Tubs
Basecamp Resort Canmore has a rooftop hot tub for its guests. It’s located on the second floor of one of the buildings, and it has an amazing view of the mountains.
It can be a bit windy, but there is no better way to end the day. After a long day outside hiking and discovering the Canadian Rockies, it was so nice to get to relax in the hot tub and enjoy the view.
It’s one of the best hotels in Canmore with hot tubs… but not any hot tub… a rooftop hot tub facing the mountains.
4. The Easy Check-In & Check-Out Experience
The resort has a touch-free check-in and check-out process. It was seamless and efficient. Plus, it minimizes the contact and time loss of waiting in line for check-in/check-out.
We received clear instructions upon booking, a few days prior to our stay, and during our stay. The entire process was hassle-free and really convenient.
It’s at the Basecamp Lodge that you can go to do an in-person check-in/check-out or to ask any questions you may have to the staff
5. The Little Bonus
One little bonus when staying at the Basecamp Resorts (or any other Basecamp properties) is the luxury bath products. You’ll get to try the nice Rocky Mountain Soap Company. bath products.

A Few Things to Consider When Booking at the Basecamp Resorts Canmore
This resort is a wonderful place where to stay in Canmore, with or without the kids. It’s clean, beautiful, and perfectly located. But there are two (2) points you should be aware of before booking your stay.
- There is no restaurant on-site
Because all rooms at the resort have a full kitchen, there is no complimentary breakfast provided. You’ll have good coffee grains and a French press for your morning coffee, but you’ll need to get your own breakfast. We stopped at the grocery store in town and bought fruits, yogurt, eggs, and a few more things to make our own breakfast.
There is also the Rocky Mountain Bagel Co. located just next to the resort. You can’t miss it.
- The train track is behind the resort
The train track is just behind the resort. If you have a room facing the parking lot, you’ll be closer to the tracks. It’s where our room was. You’ll find earplugs in the bathroom for you to use, but I didn’t have to wear them. We fell asleep just after a late evening train passed and we were good to fall asleep.
And it didn’t wake us up overnight.
