Conveniently located just minutes away from the Strip, Springs Preserve is a 180-acre, family-friendly destination with endless opportunities for fun and learning. The nature preserve features interactive science museums, exhibits, a butterfly house, botanical gardens, and wildlife.
The property is easily accessible and offers free parking on-site. It’s the perfect place to spend a day with kids, as there are plenty of things to do and see. One must-visit attraction is the Butterfly Habitat, where your kids can spot some butterflies. You can also find a playground and splash pad area for younger children to enjoy.
For older kids, the interactive Origen Museum offers hands-on experiences with animals commonly found in desert habitats, including lizards, frogs, bunnies, and even Gila monsters. And be sure to visit the Teaching Garden! It’s an instructive space where visitors can learn about sustainable gardening practices.
And when you’re ready for a break, there are cafes on site where you can grab a snack and relax. There is a nursing area, too!

Get your kids and stroll through the Nelson Ghost Town Barn, or check out the old church on site. And don’t forget to stop by the plane wreckage at Nelson, a fascinating piece of history that will surely spark your kid’s imagination.
I recommend you pack plenty of water, healthy snacks, and sunscreen, as the desert can get hot, and lastly, be aware of snakes and other wildlife that may still reside in the area.
